Is this one yours?
Remote workers with an EU passport, families relocating from elsewhere in Europe, students on a full degree, retirees chasing the sun: if Valencia is now home, this is your registration. You can request it whether or not you already hold a NIE, since the certificate comes with the number on it.
Certificado de registro UE Valencia: what you show
- The EX-18, every page signed
- Passport or national ID, the original plus a photocopy
- The paid Modelo 790 código 012
- Proof of your situation: an employment contract, registration as self-employed, or enough means plus health cover; students show enrolment, cover and means
- Your padrón certificate, if the office asks for it
Why it is worth doing early
Banks, employers and landlords often ask for the certificate as proof that you live here. Having it before anyone asks saves a rushed appointment later, and it makes the rest of your empadronamiento and admin feel far less urgent.
Here in Valencia
In Valencia the green certificate is issued at the Oficina de Trámites de Comunitarios y Certificados, Calle de Bailén 9, which policia.es lists for the registration of EU citizens; further out, the comisarías across the province in Alzira, Gandia, Ontinyent and Sagunt list it too. The Bailén office also opens on Monday to Thursday afternoons, handy if you work remotely and would rather not lose a whole morning.
Quick questions
Is the green certificate an ID card?
No. It is a certificate without a photo, so carry your passport or national ID with it.
Does it need renewing?
The certificate has no expiry date. Keep your details current, for instance by reporting a new address.
Can my non-EU partner get one too?
Relatives without an EU passport follow their own track: a residence card of their own, requested with form EX-19.
