When people need one
- Opening or keeping a non-resident bank account
- Buying or selling a property while living abroad
- Showing an employer or a foreign body your status in Spain
- Any file where being resident or not changes how a matter is handled
How to request it
The request uses form EX-15, the same one as the number, which has its own box for each certificate. You pay the Modelo 790 código 012, book a cita previa for the certificate and bring your passport, your NIE and any letter explaining why it is needed.
Where we help
We check which certificate your bank or notary really means, because the names are easy to confuse, prepare the form and the fee and look for an appointment that fits around your trip to Valencia.
Here in Valencia
Residence and non-residence certificates are among the procedures policia.es lists for the Bailén office in Valencia, next to NIE certificates and the DNI/NIE concordance certificate. Buying along the coast, from Alboraya to Sagunto or Gandia? Tell us the date of the signing first, and we work back from it.
Quick questions
How long is the certificate valid?
It shows your status on the day it is issued. Whoever asked for it decides how recent it must be, so ask them before you book.
Can I request it if I already have a NIE?
Yes. Most people who request it already have one, and the number goes on the form.
Is this a tax residence certificate?
No. Tax residence is certified by the tax agency, not the police. Ask whoever requested your document which of the two they need.
